We were led in devotion by two of our youth, Hillary Taylor and Sarah Moseley. They read from John 13 and ask us to put business aside and to show love for each other.
Bill Brown informed us that Safe Sanctuary will come and it will be an asset for us. It will not cause us any problems. We need to try and follow the procedure now. Always have two adults and no one under 21 should be driving a vehicle.
The Salkehatchie Scholarship consist of $8,000 which has been set aside. A Camp Director will contact Tammy and request the money. A record will be kept but the names of the campers will not be made public.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved. The election of officers was then held and all the present officers were re-elected.
The audit of the two camps will be ready at the next meeting. Please send Joyce Barrow your ideas for all camps and she will compile them for everybody.
Bill McCown reported that the open forum for the camp directors worked well. We need to keep informed for practical help.
John Culp asked us to:
1. Work with Tammy and keep her informed.
2. The next meeting for Camp Directors will be April 12 at Virginia Wingard and we will go over the applications.
3. All camp directors need to recruit campers and use the DVD.
4. John reminded us Salkehatchie can help youth.
5. The Retreat has been good and useful.
6. He asked us to pray for each camp.
The Youth then concluded the meeting with these suggestions:
1. We need to have fun
2. Connect and spend time with the family living in the home
3. The youth need icebreakers to get to know each other
4. The electronics for the campers need to be limited
5. The youth would like to be informed of what goes on behind the scenes
6. More Salkehatchie apparel
7. We need to recruit at YAC and at colleges
8. The adults need to be prepared
There being no other business we closed with a prayer.
